CSA Harvest Guide : October 4
Gosh, it's October already?! I'm starting to think with these big bursts of rain we need to all start gathering some buckets and sending them to our friends and family in the Midwest...they are STILL feeling the drought. Does your backyard look anything like this?

We hope you all enjoyed your monstrous harvest bags last week, and that you're ready for more bounty! This week and perhaps the next couple will be on the heavier side because of all the long-season crops that are finally coming in from the fields.
~
So, what's in your bag?
|

Collard Greens
|

Apple Mint
|
|

Arugula
|

Red Bell Pepper
|
This week, expect to find these items: Eggplant or Summer Squash, a mix of Peppers or Tomatoes, Lettuce, Arugula, Collards or Kale, Broccoli (that's right...more!), Carrots, Potatoes and Mint as an herb.
We almost forgot about the mint out here, but since it is still looking great, and it's nice to have as a tea to keep warm with, we wanted to make sure you received some more before the season is over.
Also, a few of you may notice that there is a little nibble on your potatoes...do not be too alarmed! We have vole friends in the field, and it's just not practical to expect them to keep their hands off of everything at this point in the season. You can easily cut around those areas and enjoy the rest of their earthy yum.
And finally, as some of you may not be receiving any tomatoes this week, this should be a good sign that their treasured season is finally coming to an end...tomatoes, we will miss you!
Stay dry and warm as we welcome the beautiful month of October! Peace & Enjoy. |

CSA Harvest Guide : September 27

Thanks to all who helped and came out on Sunday for the Fair, it was a total blast. We could not have asked for more perfect weather to be walking around outside.
The fields are starting to really shape up, as we grow nearer and nearer to being ahead of the weeds once again. We've noticed that many of our root crops are doing very well, and you'll be getting a taste of their success in your bags this week....the beets are back and bigger than ever!
On the other hand, our nightshades are starting to show their distress to the cooler nights and days. This may just be the last week that you'll be receiving cherry or slicer tomatoes, and although they may look to be fading a bit, they still pack a more superior flavor than any store bought brands....enjoy them while they last!

What's in the bag?

Eggplants
|

Delicata and Sugar Dumpling Winter Squash
|
|

Cilantro
|

Beets
|
This week expect to find most if not all of these items: Lettuce, Beets, Winter Squash, Beans or Broccoli, Onions, Summer Squash or Eggplant, Peppers, Slicer and Cherry Tomatoes and Cilantro as an herb.
We have a mixture of winter squash, from delicatas and sugar dumplings to more spaghetti and even more butternut squash. This week, you'll be receiving at least one of these varieties of winter squash. It has been enjoyable waiting for the butternut squash to cure, because they fill the greenhouse with a warm and buttery smell- I definitely understand where their name comes from now.
Until next week, peace & enjoy!
